When a horse horde closed in for the kill, it slaughtered without compunction. There was absolutely no hint, moreover, of ritual or ceremony in the actions of a horse horde. The horse peoples fought to win - quickly, completely and quite unheroically. Eschewal of heroic display was, indeed, almost a nomad rule.
